How does the 30% referral commission work?

Generally referral fees are based on the buyer side of commission received and this is the minimum Broker Agent Professional will require for its endorsed agents/brokers to guarantee.

For example, on a $300,000 sale, if your buying side commission is 3% your gross commission would be $9,000 - Of this you would pay 30%, or $2,700 for your referral to the agent who referred you the client.

You can offer more - For example if a buyer purchased one of your listings and you wanted to offer part of the selling side commission as well, this would be negotiable between you and the agent referring you business.

This may seem like a lot to offer, but keep in mind that buyers who are relocating and need a new home are generally the easiest to service. Also, you might want to keep in mind that the industry referral average is 25%. Given this strong buyer market the additional 5% is necessary to make the directory appealing to referrals and secure success for you.

What type of agreement will be expected of me?

Any formal agreement will be between you and the referring agent. Your only guarantee to Broker Agent Professional will be that you will pay a minimum 30% referral fee on the buying side of your commission to any agent who you contract with through this directory.
